I couldn't agree with you more, Jae.
I've certainly observed that situation happen many times over, where the onus of making it work falls on the shoulders of neurodivergent employees who feel like they have to prove themselves, while the rest of the neurotypical employees sort of wash their hands of the responsibility... as if communication wasn't a two-way street.
This might actually make for an interesting follow up post...
